These five students oversee six teams, each led by a pair of Year 11 students, focused on the academies key values: self-help, self-responsibility, equality, equity, democracy, and solidarity. Each team engages in a range of projects aimed at developing essential leadership qualities, enhancing communication, and cultivating strong character traits. This framework not only serves as a cornerstone for the growth of the academy but also provides students with opportunities to sharpen their oracy skills and amplify their voices, empowering them to initiate meaningful change both within the academy and the wider community.
The value teams within the Student Leadership Team undertake a variety of responsibilities to promote key principles throughout the academy. The Self-Help team organises workshops and peer support groups focused on personal development and resilience, while the Self-Responsibility team develops campaigns that raise awareness of accountability and pairs younger students with mentors. Team self-help aims to foster a culture of self-reliance within the academy, we will encourage students to take ownership of their learning and responsibilities. By promoting self-help, we aim to cultivate independence and critical thinking. Students will be guided to seek solutions, make informed decisions, and manage their time effectively, without relying on constant direction. This approach not only prepares them for future challenges but also instills a sense of accountability and confidence in their abilities to act at the right time and in the right way.
Team self-responsibility aims to enhance accountability within the academy, we will emphasise the importance of individual accountability both on-site and in the local community. Students will be encouraged to behave responsibly, respecting the environment and others. Team equity aims to strengthen fairness within the academy, we will focus on recognising and rewarding each student's unique strengths and achievements. By ensuring fair treatment and encouraging all forms of success, we aim to create an environment where every student feels valued. This approach promotes a culture of mutual respect, where effort and accomplishment are acknowledged equitably, motivating students to reach their full potential. By looking for the best in one another, we build a supportive community that celebrates diverse talents and contributions.
Team democracy aims to amplify your voice to express your opinion, we will actively encourage students to share their ideas and participate in decision-making processes. By creating platforms for open dialogue and collaboration, we aim to foster a sense of ownership and community among students. This approach empowers students to contribute meaningfully to the academy’s success, ensuring their voices are heard and valued. Through collective input, we will build a stronger, more inclusive environment that reflects the diverse perspectives of our student body.

By encouraging students to support one another and work together, we aim to foster a strong sense of community where collective efforts lead to greater success. Through mutual support and cooperation, we will create an environment where shared goals and achievements are celebrated, strengthening the academy as a whole.
