At the start of each academic year pupils will complete a baseline assessment that will give a transitory currently working at grade.

Throughout KS3 pupils will be developing their basic understanding of theatrical skills and techniques, learning how to implement these skills to help communicate meaning to the audience. Enhancing both confidence and social skills is a priority for key stage 3 drama, encompassing activities and main task embed these everyday skills.

The drama GCSE course follows the OCR exam board. The course is split into four components, two are completed during year 10 and two through year 11. The course equates to one GCSE graded 1-9.

Pre – learning

To help pupils with their creativity when devising a performance, researching devising techniques and watching devised performances will help pupils develop new ideas that they can then implement into their own devised performances.

Pupils should take every opportunity to watch live performances, these can also be pre-recorded live performances that they can stream.

• Pupils will be given the opportunity to put forward suggested text for their presenting and performances exam. Pupils need to research a variety a text plays picking a hand full of text they feel would be appropriate for their performance, keeping in mind they will be in groups of no more than 6.

Spring:

• For pupils presenting and performance exam, all pupils must know the set section of the text off script, it is imperative they spend time learning lines in preparation for their exam in the Spring term.

The drama department run a variety of lunchtime and after-school clubs as well as the annual school production, amalgamating singing, acting and dancing.
