Year 11

Dear Parent/Carer,

Year 11 students have shown exceptional commitment, resilience and focus throughout their mock examinations. With three weeks remaining this term, it is essential that this positive academic attitude continues.

Students will receive their mock results on Wednesday 13th December. During the afternoon, they will reflect on their results and set targets to support their progress and outcomes.

Please find below some tips to support your students with their revision and home learning:

English: Use the exam board websites for previous papers/mark schemes as well as student friendly support (English Language: www.eduqas.co.uk; English Literature: www.aqa.org.uk). Make sure you know your narrative word for word. Use the coloured quote cards to practise Look/Cover/Write/Check then practise quote explosions. In addition, students have been provided with Snap revision books for each Literature text which they can use to create their own revision notes.

Maths: Please use the Mock Question-Level-Analysis (QLA) given to you by your teacher to Thursday evenings after school. Please view the Maths Display board on the BF corridor for more relevant information.

Science: Make question and answer flash cards using the revision guides or videos. Practise repeating them until they are learnt. Use the AQA website to practise past papers (https://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/science/gcse). Complete these under timed conditions and mark them. Use videos from Free Science Lessons to make notes on the required practical methods.

Why good attendance matters

Regular school attendance is an important part of giving children the best possible start in life. The aim should be to attend 100% of the time. Students who miss school frequently can fall behind with their work and do less well in examples. Good attendance also shows potential employers that a young person is reliable.

It is also important to arrive at school on time. If a child arrives late for school every day, their learning begins to suffer.
