PSHE

We want our students to be independent learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens who feel safe and happy at school.

PSHE is an important part of the curriculum which aims to support students’ spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life. PSHE offers students the chance to gain practical knowledge and skills to help them live healthily and deal with issues they face as they approach adulthood. It also gives students the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and how they are developing.

PSHE is a non-statutory subject which encompasses many areas of study. At the Co-Operative Academy of Leeds, we personalise our curriculum to fit the needs of the students we teach. Students are encouraged to share their opinions and ask questions to ensure that they have all the facts to help them make informed decisions.

PSHE includes some of the following topics

  • Healthy Lifestyles and Personal Wellbeing
  • Drugs and Alcohol Education
  • Sex and Relationships Education
  • Citizenship
  • Enterprise
  • Careers
  • Diversity and Identity
  • SEAL – Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning
  • Anti-Bullying
  • Managing Risk and Uncertainty
  • Economic Wellbeing and Financial Capability
