Covid-19 Testing/Return to school

Covid-19 Testing/Return to school

Wednesday 15 December 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Following the latest government announcement last week, you may be aware that secondary schools have been asked to test all students for Covid-19 on their return to school in January. We have therefore made the decision to stagger the return dates for students so that we are able to carry out these tests during the first week back.

All students will be offered one test at school and will return on the following dates:

  • Year 11: return to school at 8.25am on Tuesday 4 January
  • Year 9: return to school at 8.25am on Wednesday 5 January
  • Year 10: return to school at 11.00am on Wednesday 5 January
  • Year 7: return to school at 8.25am on Thursday 6 January
  • Year 8: return to school at 11.00am on Thursday 6 January

As before, students will be tested on the date they return to school and the testing process will be managed and supported by school staff. Students should then carry out a second test at home – testing kits will be handed out to students before the end of term.

We are not able to test students without consent, so we are asking parents and carers to complete this again, even if you have already done this previously. Please complete the consent form via this link: Covid-19 Testing Consent Form.

Testing will help to identify any asymptomatic cases and minimise transmission following the Christmas break – we  hope as many students as possible will take part in this testing programme. We know this mass testing is an effective way of keeping everyone safe and we would encourage all students to take part, in the same way that all staff are regularly testing themselves.

Thank you in advance for your support. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas break with your families.

Yours sincerely,

Mr B Kelly
