Online STEM club

Young Gifted and STEM

YGASTEM is an initiative that exists to improve the experiences and engagement of Black and Ethnic Minority young people with STEM subjects.

See the link HERE for some super student sessions that are free; they are running virtually on Saturdays at 10am from Saturday 12 June to Saturday 17 July.  Sessions include cosmetic science, chemical engineering and the science of afro hair.

You may remember back in July 2020 that NASA launched a rocket to Mars. Over the last 6 months that rocket has been making its way to the red planet carrying a robot the size of a car, it will arrive next week!

Join the online STEM club for access to activities and videos about Mars, rovers and spaceflight! In addition, Mr Priestley will be hosting a live viewing of the landing on Thursday 18th February 2021.

Keep an eye on this group and get your questions ready!

This half -term see the relaunch of the on-line STEM club, and this time its for ALL year groups.

STEM = science, technology, engineering and mathematics)

Anyone can join- but you must email me so that I can add you to the STEM Google classroom.

  • Every week I will post a video of a simple experiment that you can do at home.
  • Watch the video and then have a go yourself and comment in the group to let me know how you get on.
  • It will be great if you post a photo of your experiment to the group too!
  • Remember to take the relevant safety precautions and complete experiments under the supervision of a responsible adult.
There will also be the chance to interact with experts connected with the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures through “I’m A Scientist, Get me out of here”, an exciting internet platform where you can safely chat with real scientists in real-time.  More details on this later!

Unleash your inner scientist, sign up today!
