Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
“The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has helped countless young people on their sometimes difficult path to adulthood.”
– HRH The Duke of Edinburgh
Our Year 9s and 10s can take part in the Bronze Award. Students have to complete a set amount of time volunteering, learning a new skill and doing a physical activity, topped off by a student-led expedition over 2 days and 1 night, camping and being self sufficient.
“Since its creation in 1956 by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, the DofE has gone from strength to strength. Guided by the same set of principles and by young people themselves, it’s as relevant today as it was then.
A flexible programme that helps to develop young people for life and work, the numbers speak for themselves: 93% of participants feel that DofE has helped them to work in a team and 84% feel that they have become a more responsible person.”
If you want to know how you can be involved, please speak to Miss Haywood who runs the award in the Academy.
